About the Author:


Kai Barratt is a lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Technology, Jamaica. Kai completed her PhD in Cultural Studies at The University of the West Indies, Mona where her research focused on the performances of female soca artistes on and off the stage. Currently, her interests include exploring social media platforms as a space for carnival representations. She is also curious about the extension of the Trinidad-style carnival to other sites in the Caribbean specifically in Jamaica. Some of her work has been published in peer reviewed journals and others are under review. Kai is a social media enthusiast and has her own blog.
